We at AI/JAPAN fell in love with Japan in so many different ways. Some of us love Japan because they were born here, others because they love the culture, travel and language. Some simply because of the delicious food! There are many reasons to love this wonderful country, and to share our love for Japan we have started this campaign.
The “愛” kanji and “AI/JAPAN” symbol:
The kanji (Chinese character) “愛” (AI) means “love” in the Japanese language and is a combination of different kanji’s.
There are different kinds of ways to read a kanji, but basically a kanji needs to be read from top to bottom.
The kanji “愛” is based from the following Chinese characters “旡 ＋ 心 ＋ 久”.
The character we wanted to focus on in the “AI/JAPAN” symbol is “心” (kokoro), which means “heart” in Japanese.
In the design of the “AI/JAPAN” symbol We’ve placed the “sun” as used on the Japanese flag and replaced the ”心” character in “愛” by a “♥” symbol.
The “♥” symbol is a universal symbol that can be read by anyone on this planet.
With the AI symbol we want to reach people from all over the world and give a way to help without the need of the Japanese language. We want to give this opportunity because we believe it is important for the good relationship between Japan and other countries so Japan can rebuild what has been lost and can return the favor when others are in need of help.
